Regulation of Vesicle Formation during Human Papillomavirus 16 Endocytosis
Viruses are obligatory intracellular parasites that hijack cellular mechanisms for host cell entry and replication. Therefore, viruses are valuable tools to study cell biology. We investigate the uptake of human papillomavirus 16, the major causative agent of cervical cancer, to elucidate the regulation of a novel endocytic pathway used for infection. Using live cell imaging, electron microscopy and cellular perturbations during infection, we study the recruitment of cellular factors regulating membrane bending and endocytic vesicle scission.
