Mechanisms of viral infection

My project deals with the question of how endothelial plasma membrane supramolecular functional units are regulated from inside the cell by late endosomal sorting and transport. In this context, I investigate and manipulate calcium fluxes and lipid balance within the endosomal system and apply cell biological, microscopic and biochemical methods. Furthermore, I transfer my findings to clinically relevant host-pathogen interaction scenarios (e.g. Influenza A virus infection) in order to find new therapeutic strategies.
