The period during the (post)doctoral research is a sensitive phase with regard to one’s own goals. Which goals are to be achieved and why, this sometimes gets lost in the hectic pace of everyday life.
In this workshop, early career researchers reflect their own goals, values and drivers that motivate them. It provides a framework in which they can reflect the status quo, wishes for their future and perspectives.

Microscopy Seminar - Advanced fluorescence microscopy I
Microscopy – what’s at hand at Münster University?
by: Thomas Zobel
The microscopy seminar series is organized by our Imaging Network and provides an introduction into different instruments and methods for fluorescence microscopy – starting with the preparation of samples as well as basic functions and instrument settings up to characteristics in the technical design of special microscopes. The techniques covered include fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) and fluorescence-lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), super-resolution methods such as stimulated emission depletion (STED) and single molecule localization microscopy (SMLM), and single particle tracking. Everyone working at Münster University, and especially doctoral students, are welcome to participate!

The Advanced Course takes place from September 10th – 11th and covers the following topics:
- Introduction to advanced Plugins for:
o Advanced Segmentation, eg splitting objects
o Co-localisation
o Tracking
- Detailed introduction to Macro programming
- Open to discuss project specific needs four your own data
by: Thomas Zobel, Head of Light Microscopy Imaging, MIC Münster
The Basic Course takes place from August 20th – 21st (9 am to 5pm incl lunch break) and will roughly cover the following topics:
- Basic functions
- Image enhancements
- Segmentation, eg counts of nuclei, creation of regions of interest (ROI)etc)
- Measurements, eg quantification of ROIs
- Create figures
- Macro recorder and batch processing
For the Basic Course no previous knowledge is required.
